LEED Compliance Modeling for VRF System in OpenStudio
A 2-week online certificate program to learn modeling Variable Refrigerant Flow systems, executing parametric analysis and optimizing for energy efficiency in OpenStudio
Regular Fee - INR 8,500 [USD 140]
Learn the correct workflow to model VRF systems in OpenStudio
Learn baseline modelling protocol as per ASHRAE 90.1-2010, Appendix G
Understand LEED v4 requirements for energy model
Develop energy model with a VRF for a sample building
Model all components of VRF system like Outdoor and Indoor units, Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS) in OpenStudio
Use the Building Component Library (BCL) in OpenStudio for VRF system
Identify bugs to run error-free simulations
Run compliance check as per LEED v4 requirements
Create a report for LEEDv4 compliance using OpenStudio measure
Understand simulation results to give meaningful feedback to the design team
Prerequisite: Basic working knowledge of OpenStudio and SketchUp is required. Basic understanding of HVAC systems will be an advantage. This course is offered for an Intermediate learning level.
WHAT IS NOT COVERED IN THE PROGRAM?
Detailed fresh air calculations as per ASHRAE 62.1-2010 for LEED compliance
Daylight modeling for LEED compliance
Other requirements covered in the Energy and Atmosphere Credit in LEED v4
Parametric Analysis Tool (PAT) in OpenStudio
While you will be able to change or modify various system components, detailed energy conservation measures to optimize the design of the VRF will not be covered. LEED compliance is the focus of this program.
THIS PROGRAM IS DESIGNED FOR:
HVAC and MEP engineers, energy modelers, green building consultants
Students studying HVAC design or related discipline (final year or masters level)
Faculty teaching HVAC, energy efficiency or related discipline
Weekly classroom session with the instructor to clear queries and discuss assignments
Short self-paced videos lessons will be provided every week covering fundamentals of the weekly topic. Each lesson has a quiz to assess learning outcomes. While the lessons can be taken at one’s own pace, it is recommended that they are complete as per the schedule for an effective learning experience.
