LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Learn the correct workflow to model VRF systems in OpenStudio
Learn baseline modelling protocol as per ASHRAE 90.1-2010, Appendix G
Understand LEED v4 requirements for energy model
Develop energy model with a VRF for a sample building
Model all components of VRF system like Outdoor and Indoor units, Dedicated Outdoor Air System (DOAS) in OpenStudio
Use the Building Component Library (BCL) in OpenStudio for VRF system
Identify bugs to run error-free simulations
Run compliance check as per LEED v4 requirements
Create a report for LEEDv4 compliance using OpenStudio measure
Understand simulation results to give meaningful feedback to the design team
Prerequisite: Basic working knowledge of OpenStudio and SketchUp is required. Basic understanding of HVAC systems will be an advantage. This course is offered for an Intermediate learning level.

Detailed fresh air calculations as per ASHRAE 62.1-2010 for LEED compliance
Daylight modeling for LEED compliance
Other requirements covered in the Energy and Atmosphere Credit in LEED v4
Parametric Analysis Tool (PAT) in OpenStudio
While you will be able to change or modify various system components, detailed energy conservation measures to optimize the design of the VRF will not be covered. LEED compliance is the focus of this program.
